Podcasts 101
Hang on, let’s back up a second. If you are confused and aren’t quite sure what a podcast is, let’s start there. A podcast is an audio file that is usually set up in a series. It is much like a talk-radio station or an audiobook, where you can listen to people speak about different topics. They are absolutely free! You can find them on various apps and sites such as Spotify or Apple Podcasts.

- Skimm This: This is my favorite news podcast. It brings all of the important news topics, breaks them down into easy to understand episodes, and are super short you can fit them in with a cup of tea. True Crime
- My Favorite Murder: This is hands down my favorite podcast. It’s a true crime/comedy podcast… I know, might sounds like a strange mix but if you’re a true crime fanatic (like me), you will LOVE this podcast! It is so entertaining and perfect to distract you from your everyday worries. It is so great I have already gotten all my friends hooked too! PS: You can also get their hilarious book Stay Sexy and Don’t Get Murdered!
- Serial: If you’re into true crime, chances are you’ve already listened to Serial. But in that off-chance you haven’t, do yourself a favor and get on it! Their first season is truly spectacular (my favorite out of the three). But they are all good! Each season, Sarah Koenig and her team put together a fantastic production. I don’t want to spoil it for you so I’ll be a bit vague… the first season is about an old murder case, the second is about a military man and what happened to him after he walked off his base in the middle east, and the third is about America’s justice system. Check it out HERE.
- Crime Junkie: This is another top true crime podcast that is amazing. Episodes are released once a week and are a perfect way to get your crime fix in! Check it out HERE.
- Hell and Gone: Finally, I wanted to include a great podcast that follows one story. There are so many to choose from that I just included my current obsession, Hell and Gone. This is about an Arkansas murder that occurred in the early 2000’s and the crime is, arguably, solved by the end of the season! Check out your next latest obsession HERE.
