Planning Binder
I’m obsessed with the planning binder system. It allows for endless customization and possibilities. Hands down, my favorite planning binder is the Filofax. I prefer the Malden style, but they also offer a great Original binder and a Finsbury binder (plus so many more…). Kikki K offers some great options too!

Printable Planner
So… what do you put inside of your planning binder? Printable planner inserts! These are so convenient, as you can print them off from home and as many copies as you want.
I believe there are two core printable planners you need. The first is a general personal planning bundle that includes daily, weekly, and monthly calendars and various other productivity worksheets.
I was never able to find a paper planner that perfectly fit my needs, so I created my own! This planner is geared towards students and includes over 50 great planning layouts, calendars, student worksheets, financial planners, project trackers, and so. much. more. Check it out!

Goal Printable Planner
The second core planning bundle I recommend is a goal planner. This is a planning bundle that walks you through the entire goal-planning process and helps you create an attack plan to meet each one. Of course, I might be a bit bias, but I love and use my own goal printable planner. With over 25 different workbooks, calendars, trackers, goal worksheets, and more, this planner includes everything you might need to reach each and every goal this year.
Planning Freebies
Other great inserts to your planning binder are planning freebies! You can find these on so many different blogs and scale them down to fit any binder. As an obvious bonus, they are completely free… so you don’t have to spend a dime! I offer 7 awesome freebies to my readers who sign up for my newsletter. An easy way to kickstart your productivity system!

Bullet Journal
Alongside a planner, many people turn to a bullet journal to jot down their everyday thoughts and ideas. Many have also created a great planning system with it as well. This system is outlined in Ryder Carroll’s bestselling book.

Colleto Pen and Refills
Every planner needs a great pen. The Coleto Pen is my current on-the-go favorite! It is a multi-pen that offers four different colors to use, all at your fingertips.
Staedtler Triplus Pen Set
For a pen set meant to stay at home or in the office, I highly recommend these pens… they are simply fantastic. This set includes 30 colors, is strangely fun to write with, and lasts forever.
Zebra Mildliner Highlighters
If you’ve read any of my other planning-related blog posts, then you already know how obsessed I am with the Zebra Mildliners. Once you start using them, you won’t want to use any other highlighter… they are incredible! They are much milder than regular highlighters and have two different sized tips to use. Perfect for color-coding, marking important events, and more.
Colorful Page Flags
Page flags help you index important pages, easily navigate through your planner, and jot down a quick note. A cheap must-have planning essential!

This might sound like a strange addition to this list, but I can’t even count how many times a day I use double-sided tape. It is just so handy!
6-Hole Punch
Having a hole punch that matches your planning binder system is incredibly important. It makes adding inserts to your planner simple and easy.
Pencil
For plans or tasks that are not concrete, penciling them into your planner is always a good option. This way, you can change the date easily.
Pen Case
Finally, having a sturdy and high-quality pen case to add all your planner goodies to is a great way to stay organized.
BONUS: Seasonal Bucket Lists
Although I don’t consider seasonal bucket lists an essential addition to a planner, it sure does add some fun!
